Video by Edgewood College students with FACTv help We understand that sometimes your food dollar is the last one spent. Rent, utilities, bus fare or fixing the car may have stretched your budget so thin that there’s nothing left to buy food this month. We can help.
We run one of the largest, busiest food pantries in Dane County. Our St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry operates on a customer-choice basis. This means that – within certain categories and using “points” we’ll give you based on the members of your household – you can shop our pantry like a grocery store for the food you and your family prefer and will eat. We think that honors the dignity you and everyone involved in this process deserve.
During a pantry shopping trip, we typically provide about five days’ worth groceries. We work to keep the pantry well-stocked and try to offer many healthy food choices, including fresh vegetables.
You may be eligible to use the food pantry if …
If you have questions about pantry hours, your eligibility or the forms of ID needed, please call us at (608) 257-0919. Open five days per week, our centrally located food pantry is a busy place, but friendly volunteers guide pantry shoppers through the process. (Note that the pantry is closed on Wednesdays, Sundays and holidays.)

“It may be hard to visualize all those who benefited from receiving more than $2.6 million in assistance from us last year. But I invite you to stretch your imagination even further to see the good the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has done during the 90 years it has been at work here in Madison.”
