Help Neighbors With Medicine
The St. Vincent de Paul Charitable Pharmacy dispenses prescriptions to Dane County uninsured adults. If you are passionate about helping our neighbors in need to live healthy lives, join the volunteer team!
Volunteer details:
- No medical or pharmaceutical experience is required to volunteer
- Two-hour shifts are available Monday mid-day, Tuesday afternoon and Thursdays
- A commitment of at least once per month is appreciated, but not required
- Safeguarding training and a background check are required after 10 hours of volunteer service. Review our Safeguarding Policy here.

Open Positions
Front Desk Helper
- Greet patients, answer phone calls, check out medications, and assist with over-the-counter medicine and products with the help of a pharmacist. You will use pharmacy software to access patient information, track and enter data. This position is ideal for outgoing, extroverted and eager individuals who want to connect with our neighbors in need.
Prescription Filler
- Prepare medications for patients by counting pills, scanning, filling and labeling bottles to be checked by the pharmacists, restock vials, and maintain medications organization. Attention to detail required. No pharmaceutical experience is necessary.
- Being a Prescription Filler is a great experience for pre-med or pharmacy students, or those considering such career paths. Sixty hours or more of service are required to receive a letter of recommendation from the Managing Pharmacist.
Interpreter
- Spanish-speaking volunteer interpreters are particularly needed. As an interpreter, you’ll help patients who have questions regarding their medication or the pharmacy process. Interpretation may be done over the phone or in-person at the pharmacy.
Pharmacy Intake
- This volunteer position will be responsible for new patient intake and re-certifying patients. They will also be trained on the language interpretation program to assist with any communication needs.
