Food Pantry COVID-19 Timeline

August 16, 2022

March 2020: Pantry moved outside with drive-through service. Served nearly 1,300 families in the last two weeks of March.

April 2020: The first COVID-19 stimulus checks were issued. Pantry use fluctuated during spring and summer months.Five cars in a line in the parking lot of St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. A woman in a black winter coats talks with the driver of the first vehicle.

Fall 2020: COVID-19 cases spiked in Dane County. Pantry use hits record high, served 2,100+ households in October.

Spring/Summer 2021: American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 signed into law. Pantry use declines. Began using Pantry Pal for online orders.

Winter 2021: The last cash payments for 2021 Child Tax Credit were made. Pantry use increased to seasonal norm.

Spring/Summer 2022: Pantry numbers hit seasonal records as grocery and gas prices rise. Online ordering grows.
