Many families in our community are struggling to afford food right now. Do you know that one of every 15 people in Dane County are hungry and can’t afford groceries? Even more troubling is that more than 16,000 of our children don’t have the food they need to grow strong. You have a chance to help end food insecurity this month. From September 4th – 17th, “round up” your store purchases at Hy-Vee Grocery Stores or donate food to support the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.

From September 4th – 17th, all donations made from Hy-Vee shoppers who choose to “round up” their purchase to the nearest dollar will benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.

Food Drive

We will also run a traditional food drive! Bins will be available at all three Madison-area Hy-Vee Grocery Stores from September 4th – 17th to receive food and personal-care donations. We will have pre-made shopping lists available with items that are food pantry needs. Participating Hy-Vee stores are:

Tell me more about the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry:

  • Our food pantry is one of the largest and busiest in Dane County. We are currently operating outdoors as a drive-through. We offer households about 75 lbs. of fresh produce, dairy, meat, eggs, pantry staples and bread. We also provide personal-care items, laundry detergent, diapers and wipes, shampoo and body wash.
  • Our pantry has seen a dramatic increase in usage this summer. This past August, we served 2,394 households. That’s about 133 people each day our pantry was open.
  • In 2021, around 64% of food pantry clients were adults and 36% were children.
