We gladly accept your pre-loved and gently used clothing, furniture, household items and more. Materials and goods donations ensure our thrift stores are well stocked and provide a consistent, reliable shopping experience. Please check what you are donating before you drop it off. Beat-up items or “trash” are difficult to resell and cost money to dispose of, which hurts our organization and makes it difficult to support our food pantry, pharmacy, housing programs and programs.
Schedule a free at-home pickup of furniture, bagged or boxed clothing, shoes or other small household items today! Please pack small, loose items in boxes with the flaps closed or in bags that are tied shut (for soft goods only). In most cases, furniture should remain fully assembled. If you think an item needs to be unassembled to move, please ask the receptionist when you schedule your pick-up.
All of our seven Dane County thrift stores will accept goods donations. We are currently operating a no-contact drop-off at our stores. Please remain in your vehicle and staff will unload donations from your trunk or backseat. Please pack small, loose items in boxes with the flaps closed or in bags that are tied shut (for soft goods only). Please do not leave items unattended near the drop-off areas. There are also drop boxes that can handle a limited amount of donations at a handful of parishes around the Madison area.
In 2018, the tax laws changed, but the good feeling of helping someone else and having a cleaned-out, organized closet, garage or kitchen never changes! Visit the IRS website to help you understand goods donations and deductibility.
Around 160 families turn to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry each day. It’s hard to succeed in school or work while worrying about having enough to eat or paying the bills.
Currently, monetary donations and personal-care items are the preferred donations to our pantry. Thanks to our purchasing power with vendors, we can use monetary donations to purchase food at the best prices. However, we are in great need of personal-care items such as toilet paper, laundry detergent, dish soap, shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes and deodorant. Personal-care items should be full-size, unused products.

Each month staff pharmacists, technicians and volunteers fill about 400 prescriptions for uninsured patients using the St. Vincent de Paul Charitable Pharmacy. Patients receive life-saving medicines from our pharmacy, the only-stand alone pharmacy of its kind in Wisconsin.
The pharmacy procures medicine from a variety of sources, some that are paid for and others that are acquired through participating in commercial and/or publicly regulated programs, donations of medication from healthcare institutions and providers, pharmacies and pharmaceutical manufacturers, and the community too through the state repository program. We accept medicines that are unexpired, properly labeled and stored, and untampered with. We do not accept medical supplies.
If your car, truck, van or SUV is nearing its last lap, consider donating it to help serve local people in need. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has a national program to accept donated vehicles. It’s easy and convenient, and the program includes towing service. Non-working vehicles are accepted. Proceeds from local donations are used to support the charitable work of St. Vincent de Paul here in Dane County. Your vehicle donation may be tax-deductible!
